In the vibrant heart of Downtown Miami stands Club Space, a spiritual and physical refuge for night owls who want to embrace excess and spirituality. Founded in 2000 by Miami native Luis Puig, this club is much more than just a party venue; it’s a statement — a place inspired by 24-hour European club culture where the night is not just a period of time, but a state of being.
Puig’s vision was bold: a venue that doesn’t close at midnight, but instead hosts marathon raves until morning. Since its opening, Space has redefined the concept of a nightclub with 24-hour parties at the weekend that capture the spirit of Berlin, Ibiza and London. Around 600 events take place here every year, with both local DJs and top international acts performing. Tens of thousands of people are attracted each year, driven by the collective pulse that travels through the rooms.
This requires infrastructure, and it’s clear that Space thrives not only on music, but also on its structure. In the summer of 2024, the club took a break to carry out extensive renovations that had become necessary due to a major neighbouring development project: the E11EVEN hotel and its residential towers. These new buildings forced Space to reorganise its emergency exits and make structural adjustments to meet safety requirements.
Co-owners Coloma Kaboomsky, David Sinopoli and Davide Danese were open and transparent about the process. The renovations are intended not only to remove regulatory hurdles, but also to safeguard the heart of Space. A new staircase was built that leads directly from the street entrance level to the dance floor, providing safe access and representing a symbolic breakthrough. The quiet period was celebrated with one final intense marathon event. For two weekends, renowned artists such as Solomun, Honey Dijon, True Vine and many more performed before the doors temporarily closed in 2024.
The return in mid-September 2024 was perfect: the terrace, one of the club’s most iconic features, was ready with a retractable transparent roof that opens up to the sky while still providing protection. Sunrise parties held up here under the roof have a very special magic. As the first rays of sunshine shine through the glass roof, it’s not just about dancing in the light; it’s about being part of a painted morning.
A structural change was also necessary at business level: since 2024, Insomniac has held a 51% stake in Space, coupled with a long-term lease. This step secures operations and opens doors to a global reach, marking the transition from local legend to international institution.
Musically, Space continues to deliver: the three levels — the bass- and techno-intensive ‘Ground’, the elegant lounge atmosphere of ‘Floyd’, and above all the airy terrace — allow for a wide spectrum of sounds. House, melodic techno and deep house are played on the terrace, while on the ground floor, the bass can vibrate to the core. The genre is not the goal, but the bridge.
Life at the club is a blend of ecstasy and tranquillity: outside, the transparent roof brings the sky closer, while inside, the dance floors are filled with people dancing for hours on end. The renovations carried out in summer 2024 have improved physical safety and spatial clarity without compromising the atmosphere. The club seems to have matured yet remains unchanged in its magic.
