Joëlla Jackson is a Dutch artist who plays, feels and shapes house music. Her journey began at an early age, influenced by the soul, disco and Latin records she found in her mother’s living room. The decisive spark came when she discovered ‘dirty house’ mixtapes as a teenager and downloaded her first tracks via LimeWire. This early fascination led her to her first club at the age of 18, where she initially worked behind the bar. However, she soon started organising her own Thursday night event and DJing there for the first time. From that moment on, she developed her now unmistakable sound, characterised by warm bass lines, organic percussion, soulful vocals and precise, unwasteful grooves. Her signature sound moves between house, tech house and disco elements, but always remains grounded in the feeling that started it all: music as a unifying force.

As a woman in a long-standing male-dominated scene, Joëlla carves her own path with an air of composure that is no accident, but an attitude. She asserts herself not through volume, but through presence, with intuitively constructed sets full of warmth and energy. Her performances at festivals such as Strafwerk, Elrow, Mysteryland, Music On, Brunch Electronic, Aquasella, Netzwerk and Awakenings, as well as at club nights in venues like Shelter Amsterdam, Hyperclub UNVRS, Fabrik in Madrid, Amnesia Ibiza, Hï Ibiza, Nordstern Basel and Hafen 49, mark artistic milestones and moments of visibility for women wondering if they can find their place in electronic music. Joëlla shows that space is created precisely where people dare to take it.

She began releasing music later in her career, when she felt the need to give her musical identity a productive voice. In 2023, she released her first tracks, which carry the same open spirit as her DJ sets: no pigeonholing or rigid categorisation, just a free, funky house vibe that found a home on her agency’s label, Meanwhile. Her artistic vision is clear: music is not a rigid system, but a space where different colours and feelings can coexist. This idea shapes her style and her attitude towards the scene.

Joëlla Jackson is not an activist in the traditional sense; she empowers others simply by being herself. Her presence on big stages alone sends a message to women and young female artists: it is possible to establish yourself in this scene without conforming to the norm. Her journey demonstrates that authenticity is not only accepted, but also valued. Through her music, open sound and confident demeanour, she fosters an environment where diversity is not just discussed, but lived.

Through collaborating with artists such as Loco Dice, The Martinez Brothers, Jamie Jones and Kerri Chandler, she demonstrates her central role in shaping the current landscape of house music. At the same time, she remains charismatic yet approachable and warm, inspiring young women to forge their own paths in club culture. Joëlla Jackson embodies what change in electronic music really means: consistent, self-determined and full of groove, rather than loud and artificial.
