SPFDJ (born Lina Jonsson) is a Swedish DJ and producer who has made a name for herself with her uncompromising style of techno, acid, EBM and trance. She began her career in Leeds and London, becoming part of female DJ collectives such as “Universe of Tang”, before finding her artistic home in Berlin. As a resident at ‘Herrensauna’, founder of the DIY sound system ‘System.out Sound’, and head of the ‘Intrepid Skin’ label, she has had a significant impact on the queer underground scene. Her fast, raw and energetic sound transforms club nights such as Audiodrome in Turin into ecstatic endurance training sessions, and has conquered international festivals including Dekmantel, Awakenings, Glitch, DGTL, Time Warp and Primavera.
SPFDJ embodies female empowerment without resorting to clumsy displays. Her presence, energy, and independence speak for themselves. She offers a platform for young female artists, focuses on artistic independence, and views club culture as a space for self-determination. Her legendary sets, including those at Tresor Basement and Boiler Room, show what change can sound like: intense, liberating and unmistakable.
